Practical English |
|
| |
 |
Young Learners tests set international standards in practical English skills at primary school level. There are reading, writing, listening and speaking components (every child is interviewed by a trained examiner) so in the learning process children are encouraged to actively use and speak English in classroom activities. |
|
This gives them more confidence, as well as exposure to the English used in different countries
In preparing children for the test, teachers have to use modern communicative teaching methodology. Cambridge ESOL and the British Council work closely with schools to help ensure that teachers teach in the best possible way. |

Good Fun |

Our research has shown that children thoroughly enjoy studying for and taking the Cambridge Young Learners tests. There are many tasks such as drawing and colouring, as well as speaking to the examiner, which motivate and inspire the children. Some sample questions are shown below |

English For Everyone |
|
| |
 |
When the children have completed the Flyers level of
the Young Learners, there are higher stages in learning
English that they can aim for. These are the Key English
Test (KET), the Preliminary English Test (PET) and the
First Certificate in English (FCE) for older students and
adults. Starting at Young Learners and working up
through this , system is a very
effective way to
progress in
English to a
level at which
your child can
confidently
take exams for
overseas study
or use Englishat work. |
